The "encapsulated" culture
Firstly, it's worth highlighting that a few years ago, the trend of Capsule Coffee Makers in Coffee Culture made a significant impact in Brazil, allowing ordinary people access to flavors once only available in the best cafés.
In the contemporary scene, where the pursuit of convenience and efficiency is a constant, capsule coffee makers emerge as an apparently ideal solution for coffee lovers.
There are numerous designs, flavors, options, and combinations. However, behind the convenience these appliances offer, there's a debate that deserves our attention and reflection: the cleanliness of these devices and the waste they produce.
In a world where people are increasingly conscious of their choices, it's crucial to understand the impact these devices have on our relationship with one of the most beloved and traditional beverages: coffee.
Therefore, in this article, we will explore the hygiene and cleanliness experience of a specific coffee maker, the 3 Corações MIMO.
The 3 Corações MIMO coffee maker
In the vast universe of capsule coffee makers, the MIMO Coffee Maker from Três Corações once had its time in the spotlight. However, even though it's no longer officially available from the manufacturer, it's still possible to find it in some retail outlets, whether on specific websites or in the second-hand market.
The 3 Corações MIMO Coffee Maker stood out in the market as a highly competitive option for consumers seeking quality and convenience at affordable prices. With a modern and compact design, the MIMO offers a good coffee experience, with a variety of flavors and aromas available in its capsules and compatible ones.
Furthermore, the established reputation of the 3 Corações brand instills confidence in consumers, who find in the MIMO an excellent cost-benefit ratio. By positioning itself as an affordable option without compromising quality, the MIMO stood out as a reasonable choice for consumers seeking a premium coffee experience at a competitive price.
My practical experience
My personal experience with this coffee maker was marked by ups and downs worth sharing. Initially, it's undeniable that the taste of the coffee produced by this machine is of superior quality. The capsules offer a pleasant sensory experience, with rich and natural flavors, without the excessive chemicals that often compromise the pleasure of a good cup of coffee.
However, it's important to note that the MIMO Coffee Maker presents some significant flaws in its functionality, which considerably affect the user experience. One of the main issues is related to the fixation of the capsules. Several times, I faced problems with the improper fitting of the capsules, resulting in leaks or even the capsules falling into the internal compartment of the machine.
Another noteworthy drawback is the difficulty in removing the capsules after coffee extraction. On some occasions, the capsule would get stuck in the compartment, requiring manual intervention for its removal – it was necessary, literally, to push the capsule with a finger, which becomes quite inconvenient, especially during frequent use.
Additionally, cleaning the MIMO Coffee Maker is a task that requires constant attention. Due to the accumulation of residues in the capsules and inside the machine, there's a risk of attracting insects – it actually attracted many flies – compromising not only the equipment's hygiene but also the quality of the coffee produced.
For users intending to use the MIMO Coffee Maker sporadically or domestically, it's important to consider these limitations; I do not recommend it. The accumulation of dirt and the need for frequent cleaning can make the use of this machine impractical for those who don't have the habit of consuming coffee regularly.
On the other hand, for environments where coffee consumption is high, such as offices or commercial establishments, the 3 Corações Coffee Maker can be a viable option, provided there's constant care with cleaning and maintenance of the equipment. In other words, if there's someone responsible for always cleaning and emptying the compartment and capsules, it can be a viable option.
In summary, the Três Corações MIMO Coffee Maker offers quality coffee, but its functionality is compromised by flaws that can negatively impact the user experience. Before purchasing this product, it's essential to consider your needs and evaluate if the machine's features meet your expectations and usage demands.
And the environment?
This diffuse right cannot be ignored in our schools. Therefore, in the face of the growing popularity of capsule coffee makers, it's imperative to consider not only the positive aspects related to the convenience and quality of the coffee produced but also the environmental challenges that accompany their use.
This reality raises ethical and sustainable issues that cannot be ignored. It's essential that, while appreciating the convenience of these devices, we are equally aware of the long-term environmental consequences, contributing to an informed dialogue and the search for more responsible alternatives.
The sustainable use of water for coffee production and for cleaning utensils, as well as the waste produced, whether from capsules or from the grounds and filters, weighs in the cost-benefit of the choice.
Therefore, One of the points that made me return to the origins, besides cleaning, was the destination of the waste generated by these capsules, which are often made of non-biodegradable materials. In my opinion, no coffee maker will suppress the nostalgic and practical flavor of traditional Brazilian filtered coffee; it's already in Brazilians' DNA, for sure.
