(Versão em Português, clique aqui)
Introduction
Nothing compares to the feeling of freedom provided by a motorcycle adventure in the middle of nature. On this expedition, I traveled about 100km (≅62mi), including the journey back home, and had the opportunity to experience typical landscapes of Brazilian Cerrado i Goiás. From pastures and thickets to rough cerrado and plantations, the route revealed all the diversity and beauty of this region. However, the absolute highlight is a peculiar cave, actually a concrete trench built under a hill to drain a river. This discovery raised an intriguing question: where did the river pass before this cave existed? If you know the answer, be sure to share it in the comments!
Oh, before I forget, the full video is available at the end of this article.
Preparation and Inspiration
This trip was inspired by a test I decided to do with SpotX, a tracking device from GlobalStar that I purchased for a trip to Paredão Grande [Big Wall], in Mato Grosso. The SpotX review will be discussed at another time, as well as details of this adventure, mainly about what not to do in similar situations.
Returning to the expedition in question, the intention was to better understand how the device works, so I decided to look for an off-road route in the region. After a quick search on Google Maps, I found possible dirt trails that passed through Cidade Ocidental and arrived close to Luziânia. However, to my surprise, I discovered that this is an alternative route between Valparaíso de Goiás and Luziânia. It is a good quality road (at the time), with a certain flow of vehicles, mainly related to agribusiness. During the journey, I was able to contemplate several farms, crystalline rivers and wild animals. In the video, it is possible to see a Carcará, a common bird of prey in this region.
The Beauty of Brazilian Cerrado
The Cerrado in Goiás is a true gift from God. Its vastness and natural richness enchant adventurers in its lands. During the expedition, I was able to admire the grandeur of this biome, with its exuberant flora and diverse fauna. The immensity of the pastures, covered by a green mantle, stretched as far as the eye could see. The typical vegetation of the cerrado revealed all its exuberance, with twisted trees and resistant bushes. At every turn along the way, a new surprise was revealed, whether in the form of a hidden waterfall or the presence of wild animals.
The Mysterious Cave
During the expedition, I came across an intriguing construction: an artificial cave, actually a concrete trench, excavated under a hill to drain a river. This impressive structure piqued my curiosity: where did the river flow before this cave existed? The answer to this question remains a mystery, and I invite you, the reader, to share your hypothesis in the comments. This interaction will enrich our experience and knowledge of this very special region.
The Importance of Preservation
During this expedition, the importance of preserving Brazilian Cerrado became evident. This unique ecosystem is home to a multitude of plant and animal species, many of them endemic. It is necessary to value rural producers who manage to produce the food that feeds Brazil and the world and, at the same time, preserves the enviroment.
We must be attentive to the properties that do not produce and do not preserve. The indiscriminate destruction of the cerrado to make way for unsustainable developments threatens not only biodiversity, but also water resources and climate balance. It is essential that all of us, as conscientious citizens, ensure the protection of this natural treasure, guaranteeing its preservation for future generations.
Final considerations
The expedition along an alternative route between Valparaíso de Goiás and Luziânia was an enriching experience. The freedom to explore nature, the beauty of the cerrado in Goiás and the discovery of the mysterious cave are moments that will remain in my memory forever. This adventure reinforced my connection with nature and my admiration for divine creation. I hope this report inspires others to venture into the Cerrado of Goiás and to appreciate all the grandeur of God's creation. Long live the freedom of adventure!
